He Is Faithful That Promised

Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) Hebrew 10:23

This weekend has come to an end. Today, I went out to eat with my son and daughterinlaw. We went to the Lonestar Steakhouse. I had a grilled pork chop, at a steak house, but it was on the menu. It has been a while since I had any thing pork. With it, I had the dinner salad and steak fries of course. I love potatoes of any kind. I don't usually get a baked potato because the size they serve at restaurants are a meal by their selves. I can't even eat all the fries they serve with a meal. I love their ranch salad dressing. They make it their selves and it is so much better than the bottled ranch. My new goal is to search the web for recipes and start making my own.

Friday, I came home from work to find the biggest snake I have ever seen on my front porch. I know it was over three feet long. My first shriek was "rattlesnake!" I went back down the steps to put some distance between us and to calm down. I moved a few foot steps to the left so I could keep an eye on it and try to figure out what to do next. That is when I saw that it didn't have any rattlers on it's tail. It's head wasn't triangular but it wasn't round either. To me it looked liked the head of the pythons I have seen for sale in pet stores. It kept on slithering down the wheel chair ramp and went under the house. When it made it to the ground, I bolted for the door and got inside to safety. I have searched the internet but I still haven't identified the snake. I am thinking possibly a rat snake.

Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children; for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the Lord. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul; all they that hate me love death.

Saturday morning I woke up at 8:48, giving me twelve hours of sleep. I felt like I had actually slept. I don't feel rested during the week because I only get five to six hours of sleep a night. Usually I go to bed at nine but I don't fall asleep till around ten or eleven. Then I have to get up at five. One of my biggest pleasures of the weekend is getting enough sleep.

The flowering hedges are blooming and my eyes are itching and watering. I take claritin every day as directed by my doctor. It helps with my sinuses but it gives little relief for my eyes.

I have enjoyed cooking this weekend. I cooked a beef roast with potatoes and carrots friday night and have been eating it all weekend. Last night I baked cookies, snickerdoodles; they won't last very long.

Oh, I bought a sno-cone machine for shaved ice. I have been making a sno-cone every evening; they are refreshing and delicious. I even use the sugar free syrup because of my diabetes and they are still good. Walmart only had two flavors of sugar free. I have found a recipe for the syrup. My first attempt at making the sugar free syrup wasn't a success. It was very bitter and watery. I will have to search for more recipes.

Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, "Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven." And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.

Thursday, the dentist told me my pain was caused by a partial dry socket. He said it is very uncommon; of course it would be me to do the uncommon. He gave me a syringe to rinse the opening with salt water and remove food particles. He couldn't tell me when it would completely heal. The pain is better; I still have to eat on the left side of my mouth.

I replaced my microwave with a much smaller one that cost $45. It has lower wattage than my big one but it is plenty big enough for what I need to do. I found I could live without one. I reheated food in pots and pans like mom did when I was much much younger and heated water in a tea kettle. What I missed the most was the quickness of a microwave; like boiling hot water in two minutes.

The april cold snap is here. We are having temperatures in the thirties again. Like granny always said, thunder in february, frost in april. We went from using air conditioners to using heaters.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

I have been going to work this week with minor pain. I go tomorrow to have the stitches removed and hope to find out what is causing the pain. I am thinking "dry socket" but I'm not really sure because it didn't happen with my other tooth extractions.

My microwave died today. I am at a loss because I used it constantly. How did we manage before we had microwaves? I considered putting it in the shop but I can buy a small microwave for less than the repairman charges just to check and see what is wrong with it. I am going to see if I can actually live without the convenience.

This three day weekend has been spent in minor pain due to having two jaw teeth pulled. I had the procedure thursday and took friday off from work because the dentist said "no bending over, no heavy lifting, and do not get over heated." All of this happens at work. I was not expecting to get stitches as this did not happen the last and only time I had a tooth pulled. My jaw is still very sore but not so bad that I need pain medication.

Grannybird, I saw my first snake for this year. I only caught a glimpse; I couldn't tell if it was friend or foe. My lawn has not been mowed yet and it was slithering through tall weeds. I wouldn't have seen it if it hadn't raised it's head to look at me. This time I stood still, no stomping of feet as instructed by grannysdaughter. It would have felt the vibration of my running feet if it would have turned and headed towards me.
